The principles of the trade of the clothes of Second Hand.
How in any occupation, also in the trade of the clothes and especially in trade with the clothes of Second Hand, exist the particulars and small tricks. If you know and use them, you can dominate in the market.
1. Expensive – it not mean yet unprofitable!
For instance, you come for the bulk purchase of the goods and see that the goods of one manufacture differ at the price in the different companies: 1,25 and 1,50. It should seem – economically more advantageous is taken for 1,25? However not always it is true. If would become apparent that the cheapest goods are much worse by the quality and you have to throw away a half of the purchased sack then its net cost immediately grows TWICE! And it comes out that actually you have bought the goods for 2,50, instead of 1,25!
2. Add to the shop STOCK?
The huge advantage of Second Hand versus the shops of new clothes is the absence of the repetitions: almost impossible to find the identical T-shirt, blouse or other dress. Sometimes the owners of the shops of Second Hand fall for the temptation to add to the assortment the stock goods. And the buyers, accustomed to the diversity, suddenly see the similar and uniform articles.
Our experience shows that usually the mixing the Second Hand with the stock don’t give the positive effect. At the opportunity, it will be better to open two separate shops.
3. Should the shop of Second Hand look cheaply?
Now you are already looking out for the premises for the rent or you already have own. What of equipment you should acquire? Is the renovation worthwhile?
Our experience suggests that it isn’t good idea to spare on the interior appearance of the shop. The in-store equipment you can take the used (after all, it is the shop of Second Hand), but it should be in the perfect condition: none chamfer or rust and so on. However, on the renovation is not be allowed to spare very much. For the buyer it is much pleasant to be in the clean, fresh room than in the soiled cellar with naked bulb on the ceiling.
4. Discounts every day?
Certainly, you see glued windows of the shops with the multicoloured (at best), or even simply with white sheets with the written messages – discounts of 40%, 50%, 70%. Notably, these sheets already discolour because of the permanent being on same place (discounts at the opening, discounts on the closing, discounts before the renovation, after renovation and so on). Do you believe that the buyer have any reaction on it? Would you self «be caught» on that?
One clever person said that «even in the modesty should be modesty». Inform the people instead of the false discount about the real discounts. And the delivery isn’t happening every day (if only yesterday the buyers bought out all goods). Change the font of the advertisement, its position and the text. It should not «pull the wool» over the eyes of buyer.
